To maintain and even increase the quality and competitiveness of immunological research, highly qualified young scientists who are also able to bridge basic and clinical research are of fundamental importance. Immunology Research Cluster (IRC) faculty members are committed to provide excellent research and complementary training opportunities for undergraduate students, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows in the field of Immunology.
IRC offers young scientists the possibility to work with faculty members on cutting-edge research projects in stimulating research environments. Students and postdoctoral fellows will obtain an in-depth training on various immunological topics and techniques to obtain a broad knowledge in the field of immunology. They will also obtain important knowledge in designing and executing experiments, in project presentation techniques, in manuscript and grant proposal writing. Moreover, they will be introduced into ethical aspects of science and good scientific practice, and will learn about IPR/patent issues and commercial exploitation of research results.
PhD students are enrolled in one of the PhD programs of the Medical University of Vienna, while postdoctoral fellows will be part of the IRC postdoctoral training network.
Finally, Vienna with a population of more than 1.9 million has a thriving biomedical research scene and as the capital of Austria is also a vibrant and enjoyable city to live and work in.
